Kathleen “Kathy” Anne Deane Moore, age 68, of Southport, N.C., died Monday, October 18, 2010, at her home.
She was born in Portland, Ore., on July 11, 1942, and was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Ritterbusch Deane. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Patrick Moore, and a sister, Patti Johnson.
Kathy was a loving wife and mother. Over the years, she was a Cub Scout den mother, taught Sunday School, was an officer with the Watergate Village Yacht Club and enjoyed playing canasta. She especially loved viewing the water from her Caswell Beach Villa and also the family cottage on Peconic Bay in Mattituck.
She is survived by her husband, John L. Moore Jr.; a son, John L. Moore III of Cutchogue; two brothers, Thomas Deane of Los Angeles and Michael Mead of Tacoma, Wash.; and two sisters, Nora Forsythe of Waipai, Hawaii, and Antoinette Deane.
The family will receive friends at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck on Friday, Oct. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 30, from 10 to 11 a.m., when funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. George Gaffga. Interment will follow at New Bethany Cemetery, Mattituck.
