Emily “Kit” Coone of Riverhead died Oct. 26. She was 93, and had been living at the Riverhead Care Facility since 2004.
She was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Hasting, Fla. to Philip and Eliza Henry and married Alfred Bernard Coone, March 3, 1944.
Ms. Coone worked for Stratton’s as a receptionist, where family said she was a good worker, and retiring after many years of faithful service. They said she would walk to and from work, even in inclement weather.
Ms. Coone moved to Riverhead and joined Goodwill A.M.E. Zion Church, where she served on the usher board. Family members said she loved reading her Bible and singing Gospel songs.
Predeceased by her husband and daughter, Pearlene, Ms. Coone was survived by her sister-in-law-Ophelia Coone; her niece, Thelma Brown-Sykes, and many other family and friends.
Arrangements were handled by Seay Memorial Chapel. Interment took place at Riverhead Cemetery.
