Photography by Diane Woodcheke of Calverton will be displayed at Riverhead Town Hall from Sept. 4 to Nov. 30. The show, part of Ms. Woodcheke’s series “Visions of the East End,” is presented by East End Arts

Ms. Woodcheke lived in Queens and elsewhere on Long Island before landing in Calverton. A press release says, “Currently living on the North Fork, she has a never-ending supply of interesting subjects and beauty that can only be found in this region.”

Exhibit hours coincide with Town Hall office hours.

• “Out Back,” a painting by Greenport artist Dorothy Russo, has won Southold Historical Society’s Thomas Currie-Bell Memorial Purchase Prize. Ms. Russo’s depiction of the historical society’s Thomas Moore House garden and outhouse was an entry in the “North Fork Annual” juried art exhibition, on view through Sept. 5 at the Reichert Family Center’s gallery.

• An exhibit and sale of historic paintings by past North Fork artists, some never seen before, is being offered by Old Town Arts and Crafts Guild in Cutchogue through Dec. 23.

Exhibit hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. Call 734-6382 or email [email protected] or visit oldtownartsguild.org.

‘August Abstracts Exhibition,’ a series of three special gallery afternoons, will be presented by 10 local artists this fall at Thirty East Main in Riverhead. They are co-hosted by East End Arts. The exhibit and sale will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. on three Saturdays, Sept. 5 and 26 and Oct. 17.

The artists are painter Helena Alves of Southampton, sculptor Domenico Belli of North Salem, N.Y., photographer Paul Dempsey of Southampton, photographer Gerry Gilberti of East Hampton, mixed media artist Frank Gioeli of Sag Harbor, painter Marion Jones of Southold, painter Richard Kane of Southampton, photographer Katherine Liepe-Levinson of Southampton, painter Andrew Masino of Calverton and photographer Jim Sabiston of Bay Shore.
The show also can be seen by appointment through Oct. 29. Call East End Arts at 727-0900.

‘Calm Before the Storm’ features work by Christine Matthäi of Shelter Island and Dalton Portella of Montauk from Sept. 5 to 27 at the Alex Ferrone Photography Gallery in Cutchogue. An opening reception is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5.

According to a release, Ms. Matthäi’s “serene water reflection images … are inspired by the extraordinary light conditions of sea, sky and water on the East End.” And “Mr. Portella synthesizes a new storm — two or more storms coming together to form a more powerful fictionalized storm — stunningly capturing the strength of nature and the fury of the sea.”

The photographers will give a free gallery talk from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20.

A group show titled ‘Momma’ will be on view Sept. 5-20 at Rothman’s Gallery in Southold. The exhibit includes work by artists Servane Mary, Virginia Overton, John Miller and Richard Hoec, Olivier Mosset, and Michel Auder, with text by Bob Nickas.

Opening and closing receptions are planned for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, and Saturday, Sept. 19. The Sept. 5 reception will include music by Southold Slim and Ron Rothman, with special guests; the Jose Martos band will play on Sept. 19.

Linda Nemeth is artist of the month at Old Town Arts and Crafts Guild. Her paints and sculptures will be on display through September.

An opening reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11. Exhibit hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Have ‘Coffee With Ron Barron’ at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7, at The South Street Gallery in Greenport. Mr. Barron will discuss the scanned digital images from his “Adrift” series that the gallery is showing for the first time. The work mostly features images from North Fork beaches.

Mr. Barron is a part-time resident of Greenport. His résumé includes stints as a professional dancer, television cameraman and director, high school teacher, public television administrator, recording artists manager and record producer.
