Photos: Blue Waves off to 2-0 start after victory in league opener
The Riverhead boys basketball team defeated Newfield Tuesday in the League III opener, 44-43, at Riverhead High School.
The Blue Waves got a game-high 15 points from senior Tyrese Kerr. Sharron Trent and Lintell Brown both added eight points. The Wolverines dropped to 2-1 overall.
The Blue Waves hit the road on Thursday to face Huntington, one of the top teams in the county last year. The Blue Devils, however, are off to an 0-2 start this year.
Riverhead opened the season Friday with a non-league win over Connetquot, 59-53.
