Cops: Arson squad investigating Riverhead Auto Mall fire

Two vehicles were damaged in a small fire at Riverehead Auto Mall on Route 58 Friday night, Riverhead Town police said.

The fire was reported shortly before 11 p.m. and authorities found several burning wooden pallets near the west side of the building, police said.

The fire damaged the rear of a 2017 Hyundai Elantra and the rear of a 2013 Nissan van, officials said.

The Riverhead Fire Department extinguished the fire. The vehicles are owned by Riverhead Auto Mall.

The Riverhead Fire Marshal and Suffolk County Police Arson Squad also responded to the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation.
