Hello, everyone!

Ida Crohan celebrated her “happy day” centennial on May 7 (her real birthday is May 8), with a reception hosted by her niece Kathy Konkel, granddaughter Cindee Tooker from Georgia and son Don and wife from Tennessee. Family and friends shared memories and good times. Several certificates of appreciation were presented, as well as a proclamation from Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman. An aerial photo of Ida’s Pond, the 100th named pond in Southampton Town, was presented by Trustee Eric Schultz, as well as a flag flown over the Capitol, compliments of her great-grandson David Zilnicki. Ida is the mother of three, grandmother of nine, great-grandmother of 13 and great-great-grandmother of two. They would like to thank all who attended this special day.

Cross your fingers that these 20- to 30-degree morning temperatures end soon because I’m just about done with being cold.  (more…)

I wonder if everyone who has been thinking spring has affected the outcome of this latest snowstorm, which was downgraded from one foot of snow to one to two inches. The weather these days has been so unpredictable.  (more…)

I’m sure the Cassatt String Quartet at the Jamesport Meeting House was very well attended. I hope you had a chance to go and enjoy the first musical event of the 2014 season.  (more…)
