Woman ticketed for dog attack on cops on Halloween
Police have ticketed the owner of a dog that jumped a fence and attacked a Southampton Town police officer, a Suffolk deputy sheriff and a K-9 cop last month in Riverside.
The officers were conducting a search about 9 p.m. on Oct. 31 near Ludlam Avenue when they were attacked by the loose dog.
They then had to use a Taser to get the animal under control, Southampton Town police said.
The dog’s owner, Miriam Diaz, 54, of Ludlam Avenue in Riverside, was located last Monday and issued a summons for having a dog at large, police said.
The search followed an armed robbery at the Valero gas station on Flanders Road and Ludlam Avenue that Halloween night.
