Mattie Langhorne

Mattie Langhorne of Riverhead died Aug. 13 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. She was 94. 

She was born June 7, 1920, in Rice, Va. to Harrison and Evangerlean Johnson and was a homemaker who loved cooking and playing bingo.

Ms. Langhorne was predeceased by her husband, Melvin and her son John in 2010 and is survived by her children, Rita Ross, Dorothy Langhorne, Ellen Coles, Elvane Langhorne and Richard Langhorne; her sisters, Pearline Hawkins and Lula Johnson; her brother, Richard Johnson; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 9-11 a.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead, with a funeral service taking place at 10 a.m. Cremation will be private.
