Cops: Storage building, multiple vehicles damaged during overnight fire

The Suffolk County Police Arson Squad is assisting Riverhead Town police following an overnight fire that damaged multiple vehicles and a storage building on property just behind Tanger Outlets Center, according to a police press release.

The Riverhead Fire Department received a report of a dumpster fire just before 3 a.m. Thursday behind a suite at Tanger Outlet Center. Responding units determined that a storage building and vehicles were actually on fire on property at 1794 West Main St., just behind Tanger.

Several vehicles and equipment were damaged by the fire, police said. Town police detectives were notified to investigate along with the Riverhead Town fire marshal.

No injuries were reported, police said.
