Cops: Second suspect arrested for Home Depot thefts

A 38-year-old man who allegedly was involved in the theft of Dewalt power tools valued at more than $3,500 from the Riverhead Home Depot was arrested Friday, according to Riverhead Town police.

Jacob Elbert was arrested on an outstanding warrant at 1st District Court in Central Islip at 12:43 p.m., police said. The warrant was related to several larcenies that occurred at Home Depot last September, police said. A second suspect allegedly involved in the thefts, Justin Cruz of Bay Shore, had been previously arrested and processed on Nov. 14.

Mr. Elbert was charged with three counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and held for arraignment, police said.
