Three Shoreham-Wading River students named All-State musicians

Three Shoreham-Wading River High School students have earned prestigious spots in the 2026 New York State School Music Association All-State Honors Ensembles, the school announced.

Violinist Kai Hidaka, a junior, and senior Spencer Lee, a cellist, were named to the All-State String Orchestra, while senior Kate McQuade was selected for the All-State Mixed Choir, where she will perform as a soprano 1.

“We are so proud of these students! Shoreham-Wading River has a long tradition of musical excellence that lives on thanks to hard-working students like these,” said music coordinator Dennis Creighton. “They have spent years honing their craft with teachers at not just the high school, but also at the Prodell Middle, Wading River Elementary, and Miller Avenue schools.”

The three students will join the state’s other top musicians at the 2026 NYSSMA All-State Winter Conference, from Dec. 3 to 6, in Rochester.

“We are truly SWR Proud!” Mr. Creighton said.
