No tricks, just treats as families celebrated Halloween across the area Saturday.
Speech Therapy For All opened its new Riverhead office to the community for indoor trick-or-treating. The location opened just two weeks ago.
“We’re hosting a spooky-themed indoor trick-or-treating event at our Riverhead and Holbrook offices,” said marketing director Christina Claus. “We’re welcoming the community to come trick-or-treat and it’s open to everyone, not just patients.”
Ms. Claus told the Riverhead News-Review the goal was to connect with the community and give visitors a chance to see the offices and meet the speech therapists.
From witches to superheroes, the children showed off their costumes and collected sugary treats.
“We also want to bring some Halloween fun to the kids,” Ms. Claus continued. “We have Halloween trinkets and lots of decorations. The staff really went all out decorating the doors, including themes like Hocus Pocus and Willy Wonka.”
Ice rinks aren’t just for hockey players, but for folks to engage in ice skating in costumes.
Peconic Ice Rinks in Calverton held three events inside the bubble: a $5 freestyle special from 10:45 a.m. to noon, public skating from 1:30 to 3 p.m. and a teen night for students in grades six through 12 from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Costumes were encouraged.
“We were happy to welcome our Learn to Skate students for a Halloween skate,” said Peconic Ice Rinks Skating Director, Kim Interdonato. “It was wonderful seeing everyone dressed up, enjoy their lessons and celebrate together.”
Spooky pooches!
Bridge Lane Wine in Mattituck held a cute and boozy Halloween event for owners and their furry friends.
“We’re trying to get out every weekend and enjoy all the fun festivities for the dogs and for the people,” said New Rochelle resident Pam Miller, who has second home in Mattituck with her husband Jim.
Owners who brought their dogs in costume received a free drink on the sunny fall afternoon.
“It’s wonderful that they do this to try to bring people together, and dog families together,” Ms. Miller said. “It’s a little quirky and fun. You couldn’t have asked for a better day.”
