Last winter, a frequent Riverhead visitor emailed me several times to report that sidewalks on Route 58 had not been shoveled — as is mandated under town code — leaving people walking up and down the busy roadway.
After I followed up with the town, 40 businesses were cited. Most of them paid their $250 fines and life went on.

By mid-day Wednesday, the mobile home formerly at 40 Pine St. in Riverside was diminished to a pile of debris where the building once stood.
There are plenty of beautiful homes and scenic landscapes in Riverhead Town. Farm fields provide expansive sunrise and sunset views, while the entire downtown area is in fact listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Beyond the breathtaking and the historic, there are also various “what you’d expect” properties around town: the typical Cape-style home with a white picket fence. The stately Victorian that now houses a law office. A good, old-fashioned park. READ
