Happy summer 2015, everyone! I hope this summer doesn’t fly by as quickly as last summer. Then again, last summer I was planning a graduation party and getting ready to bring my daughter to college, so of course it went quickly for me. This summer should be a little calmer. After moving twice in the last month, picking up Kate from college for summer break and then arranging to have a surgical procedure this month, let’s just say I can really use a non-stressful summer. June is sneaking up very quickly and pretty soon there will be graduations, moving-up ceremonies and fun-in-the-sun festivities — fairs, carnivals, picnics, etc. I love summertime, especially on Long Island. I think most feel the same way. One thing we don’t love, however, is the increase in traffic. I can’t imagine how busy our roads are going to be when school is let out. (more…)
I hope everyone enjoyed their Mother’s Day. If you’re fortunate to still have your mom in your life make sure to appreciate her every day. I really miss my mom but take comfort in knowing she celebrated with her mother in Heaven. I spent the day with one of my “other” mothers, Marsha Mickoliger, and my BFF, Michele. I’ve known the Mickoligers since I was 4 and, although I don’t have a sister of my own, I have four great women in my life that I consider my sisters. (more…)
