Woman flips car, walks away unharmed

PAUL SQUIRE PHOTO | A woman was unhurt when this car flipped on Sound Avenue Monday night.

Riverhead police said a woman was “lucky” after she was not hurt in a rollover accident on Sound Avenue Monday night.

The woman was driving a silver Honda Civic LZ eastbound on Sound Avenue just west of Doctor’s Path about 7 p.m. when a raccoon ran into the road, police said. The woman swerved to avoid the animal and lost control of her vehicle, which spun off the road, struck a sapling and landed on its roof along the side of the road, police said.

Riverhead Ambulance volunteers arrived on the scene and determined the woman was not harmed in the crash, police said.
