Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Riverhead Town police detectives are asking for the public’s help to identify someone who stole a forklift that was parked near an East Main Street auto parts store earlier this month.

Police say someone took the gold and black Caterpillar forklift — model number V30D — from Bejay Auto Parts sometime between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 11. The forklift was stolen using a flatbed truck with a white cab, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers has offered a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about the alleged theft is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

All calls will be kept confidential.
