Cops: Riverhead man arrested at DWI checkpoint

Suffolk County Police arrested a Riverhead man at a sobriety checkpoint in Port Jefferson Station this weekend. 

David Morgan, 29, was charged with driving while intoxicated during the overnight checkpoint, which started at 11:15 p.m. Friday and continued until 3:15 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Mr. Morgan was one of four people charged with DWI. Two people were charged with DWAI and two were charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, police said.

Mr. Morgan was scheduled to be arraigned today in First District Court, police said.

A total of 761 vehicles went through the checkpoint on Route 25A, police said. Suffolk County Police were assisted by New York State Police and Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police.
