Reward offered for information on Riverside shooting

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Southampton Town police are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the person or people responsible for a shooting that injured a Riverside teenager.

The May 9 shooting left a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the foot, police said. Police were alerted to reports of shots fired in the area of Brown Street and Goodrich Avenue at approximately 9:40 a.m. that day and when officers arrived, they did not find any victims. However, a short time later staff at Peconic Bay Medical Center alerted police that they were treating the teenager for the gunshot wound.

Southampton Town Police Chief Steven Skrynecki previously said that the shooting was likely gang-related and he expressed optimism that police would solve the case when he spoke last week at the Flanders, Riverside and Northampton Community Association meeting.

“I know we’re going to solve it,” he said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about these incidents can call anonymously to 1-800-220-TIPS, or by texting SCPD and a message to “CRIMES” (274637) or email at www.tipsubmit.com.
