As I sit here on Sunday night not really watching the Super Bowl because my team, the Green Bay Packers, isn’t playing, I’m reading all about another winter storm that may hit our area tonight into Monday. I am not happy with this news because I hate winter and being cold, also because it means another few days of driving on icy, slick roads. I’m hoping this storm isn’t as bad as last week’s. (more…)

Happy New Year, friends and neighbors. Here we are in the beginning of 2015. When I left you last year I was just returning from picking up my daughter at college and now I’m preparing to bring her back again. Is it just me or is each year going by quicker and quicker? One minute my kids are babies and the next? One son turned 22 on Jan. 18, my other son will be 20 next month and my daughter is in her second semester of college. Where did the time go?  (more…)

So, friends and neighbors, this is it — the last column of 2014. What a year it’s been. I’ve seen my baby girl graduate from high school and then go off to college in Oneonta. I’ve seen families in the community suffer loss and devastation. I’ve seen joy and happiness at weddings and celebrations of life with the birth of babies. I’ve seen people who once had it all get knocked down and then rise again. (more…)

Happy December, friends and neighbors. I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. I did. We celebrated it at my house and everything was delicious. Lots of fun was had by all. Now that Thanksgiving is over and it’s December, I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. This year surely went fast. I can’t believe my baby girl is almost done with her first semester at college. I can’t wait to pick her up Dec. 15. Eleven more days and she’ll be home for over a month. Yay!

Happy Thanksgiving! I know I’m a week early but since I don’t have a column next week I wanted to send well wishes to you and your family. I can’t wait to host this year! My daughter will be home from college, my family will be here and all will be right in my world for that one day. I hope you get to spend the day with those you love.  (more…)

November is here and with it came some really cold temperatures and wind. I think I even saw a flurry or two on Sunday. Many of you know how much I hate winter and being cold. I’m already counting down the number of days until spring — 133! I’m also counting down the days until my baby girl Kaitlyn comes home from college for Thanksgiving break — 18! This first semester has really gone by quick. I miss her so much but am so proud of how well she’s doing. Thanks to everyone who asks how she is. She’s doing fabulous!  (more…)

Hello, friends and neighbors. Welcome to fall. It got cold, didn’t it? Speaking of the cold, my daughter downloaded an app that counts the days till Christmas. I don’t want to think about Christmas yet. I want to get through Halloween, Thanksgiving and Kaitlyn’s college finals first. I can’t believe her first semester is almost over. She is doing so well and enjoying her college experience. Thank you to everyone who asks about her.  (more…)
