Calverton: Gold Rush Farms to host fundraiser

Gold Rush Farms on Sound Avenue in Baiting Hollow will host a fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 10. Called “A show of horsepower,” it will benefit the farm, our new horse rescue facility. There will also be a classic car show with tractors and motorcycles, prizes, and pony rides. Stop by, meet the rescued horses and help the farm continue to do a great job.

‘Wines and Canines 5K Run/Walk,’ a fundraiser for Kent Animal Shelter in Calverton, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 3, at Martha Clara Vineyards from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be wine tasting, food vendors, live music by the Pamela Betti Band, and a chance to micro-chip your pet for $25. For more information or to register visit kentanimalshelter.com/winesandcanines.

Happy October! May the pumpkin gods bless us with sunny weekends. The last pickings for green beans, cucumbers and tomatoes have begun. Didn’t I just tell you about the first ones? Time sure does fly.

That’s all for this week. I’ve noticed the squirrels gathering all kinds of stuff, but after the prediction I made last year of a mild winter, I think I will hold back for a bit yet. Stay tuned. Have a great week, be safe and I will talk to you next time. Bye.
