Riverhead hosts 14th annual snapper tournament downtown

The 14th annual Riverhead Town Snapper Tournament hosted by the recreation department was held Saturday on the boardwalk of the Peconic River downtown.

There were 63 youth and 36 adults who registered; 11 kids and seven adults caught fish to vie for the contest.

Don Visek of Aquebogue came in first for the adult division with his 10 and 1/4 inch snapper and Joey Brown, 9, of Aquebogue, was first in the youth division for his 9 and 1/2 inch snapper. Both first place winners received a rod and reel donated by West Marine and Warren’s Tackle.

The other winners were Christina Gigante and David Carlson in the youth division and Eric Raynor and Nick Gigante in the adult division.
