The fourth seed in Class A, the Shoreham-Wading River boys soccer team hosts Westhampton at 2:30 p.m. today while the fifth-seeded girls volleyball team travels to Hampton Bays at 5 p.m. in Class B.

The boys soccer team finished with an 8-3-1 record in League VI and 10-4-2 overall. After stumbling a bit in mid-October, losing back-to-back games to John Glenn 5-0 and East Hampton 4-0, the Wildcats bounced back to close out the regular season with four straight victories. One of those wins came against Westhampton, 3-2, a victory that now helps give the Wildcats the home field advantage in the playoffs. Shoreham’s last game was Oct. 25, a 2-1 win over Mount Sinai.

Westhampton finished 7-4-1 in league and 10-5-1 overall. Westhampton won the first matchup between the teams.

The winner of today’s game travels to top-seeded Sayville Monday.

The girls volleyball team finished 7-5 in League VII and 8-7 overall. The Wildcats will face a tough challenge against the Baymen, a team they lost to twice in the regular season. Hampton Bays swept both matches, 3-0.

Hampton Bay was 9-3 in league and 11-4 overall.

The teams last met Oct. 25 with the Baymen winning 25-17, 25-11, 25-22.

The Baymen had a rare loss last Thursday when they dropped a five-setter against Mount Sinai. The winner of today’s match gets a date Saturday against defending county champion John Glenn, one of the top teams in the county regardless of classification.
