A 21-year-old Westhampton Beach woman has been accused of stealing more than $10,000 in jewelry from a Calverton house in January, then pawning it off for a few hundred dollars, authorities said.

Torrey Baird allegedly took $10,185 in assorted jewelry from a home on Triangle Lane between 6:30 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. on Jan. 24, according to court documents and police sources. The victim filed a police report on the theft that day, police said.

Ms. Baird was arrested by Riverhead Town police Monday night, one month after the alleged incident occurred, and charged with felony grand larceny. She had sold the stolen jewelry for $360 in pawn shops in Riverhead, according to a criminal complaint against her.

She was arraigned before Judge Allen Smith the next morning, and referred to legal aid to obtain an attorney.

A grand jury notice indicating Ms. Baird may face county charges was issued and she was released on her own recognizance, a court clerk said. Ms. Baird is due back in town court on March 25.
