An East Quogue man was arrested on drug charges Wednesday following a crash in which he struck a police vehicle and had to be treated at the scene with an opioid overdose reversal drug, Riverhead Town police said.
Jeremy Rosendahl, 37, was traveling east on West Main Street Wednesday afternoon when his 2011 Jeep Liberty crossed into the westbound lane just east of Mill Road and struck a marked Riverhead Town Police vehicle, police said.
Mr. Rosendahl was semiconscious at the scene and a used hypodermic needle and several heroin packets were found in the driver’s compartment of his vehicle, police said.
Ambulance personnel treated Mr. Rosendahl with Narcan before transporting him to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was arrested following treatment.
He was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and additional vehicle and traffic violations, police said.
Mr. Rosendahl has been arrested at least twice before on drug charges following traffic stops in Southampton Town, according to prior police reports.
