Cops: Two men gang up on victim during robbery

Riverhead Town police are looking for two suspects who allegedly robbed a man who was walking on Third Street in Riverhead Saturday night.

Police said the two suspects approached the 25-year-old victim on bicycles from behind. One man grabbed the victim around the neck and began choking him while the other suspect stole his wallet and two cell phones from his pockets. The suspects then fled on their bicycles.

Riverhead police responded just before 10 p.m. on West 2nd Street and a search for the suspects yielded no results.

Police described the suspects as black men with thin builds around 5-foot and 5-foot-8, both possibly in their early 20s. They were both wearing gray hooded sweatshirts and dark colored pants. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 631-727-4500, ext. 302.
