Cops: Another assault reported outside Royal Dorado

For the second time in a week, an altercation outside an East Main Street bar resulted in a victim suffering an injury, Riverhead Town police said.

The latest incident outside Royal Dorado Deli & Restaurant occurred in the parking lot early Sunday morning. Police responded at 2:55 a.m. and determined that Jahir Luna-Martinez, 21, of Calverton assaulted a 24-year-old Riverhead man with a belt buckle, police said. The victim suffered a laceration to his hand was treated at the scene by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance personnel.

Mr. Luna-Martinez was arrested at the scene and charged with second-degree assault, a felony, police said.

The New York State Liquor Authority will be notified of the incident, police said.

A similar incident occurred less than a week ago when a 31-year-old victim suffered a laceration to his hand.

Last year, Royal Dorado was shut down after multiple violent incidents occurred. It reopened in September.
