Blizzard predicted to hit Riverhead Tuesday night

The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a winter storm warning for Tuesday night into Wednesday afternoon.

The Weather Service is predicting 6 to 10 inches of the white stuff to start falling in Riverhead tomorrow evening, with the heaviest snow after 10 p.m. An additional 3 to 7 inches is possible Wednesday. The chance of precipitation is  now 100 percent and a low temperature of 29 degrees is predicted for Tuesday night. Wind gusts of 20 to 35 mph are also predicted.

Travel conditions are expected to be hazardous Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, the Weather Service said.
