Update: Police offer $5,000 reward for hit-and-run suspect

Suffolk County Crimestoppers is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the arrest of a 30-year-old man suspected in a fatal hit-and-run in Water Mill July 9.

Police are looking for Carlos Armando Ixpec-Chitay, who they say is known to frequent Riverhead. He is about 5-foot-7, 140 pounds with dark brown/black hair and brown eyes.

The accident on Rose Hill Road in Water Mill left Sister Jacqueline Walsh dead. On retreat with her colleagues from the Sisters of Mercy of Syosset, she was walking in the vicinity of the sanctuary where she was staying when she was hit by a car, police said. The driver did not stop, police said.
