A 22-year-old Riverhead man admitted to stealing two televisions from a West Hampton Dunes house after police spotted the allegedly stolen goods in his car when he was pulled over last week, according to a state police report.

The West Hampton Dunes Bay Constables stopped a Nissan Maxima driven by Melvin Herrera that was speeding on Dune Road last Tuesday about 10 p.m., police said. As the constable interviewed Mr. Herrera, they noticed “two large screen televisions” inside the car, the report states.

After New York State police arrived to assist in the investigation, Mr. Herrera admitted he had stolen the TVs, police said.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, a class C felony, in the Village of West Hampton Dunes Justice Court.
