Christmas Tree Shops opened its doors to the public today, making it the third retailer in the new Route 58 shopping complex east of Riverhead Raceway to make its official entrance in the past two months.

In addition to seasonal holiday décor, the 34,000-square-foot Riverhead store sells a variety of continuously changing merchandise, including home goods, gifts, cleaning supplies, health and beauty products and snacks.

“Christmas Tree Shops has been a New England staple for 40-plus years,” said Todd Johnson, the company’s president. “Customers are used to the quirky name and count on us throughout the year for everything from gifts to grills to dish detergent.”

The plaza where Christmas Tree Shops is located is also home to a recently-opened Dick’s Sporting Goods and Five Below. Starbucks, Buffalo Wild Wings and The Vitamin Shoppe — all located in the same shopping center — are slated to open in the next few months.
