After an unbeaten regular season, the Shoreham-Wading River girls soccer team will open the 2014 playoffs as the No. 2 seed in Class A, according to the brackets released by Section XI today.

The Wildcats finished the regular season 15-0-1 and were the League VI champions. Shoreham will host No. 7 Comsewogue in quarterfinal matchup at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Shoreham. The Warriors went 6-7-1 playing in League V this year.

Sayville, the defending county champions, was awarded the No. 1 seed after posting a 13-0-3 season playing in League V. The Golden Flashes ousted Shoreham from the playoffs in the semifinals last year.

The Wildcats and Golden Flashes are the only unbeaten teams left in the county.

If the Wildcats win Tuesday, they would advance to play either No. 3 Harborfields or No. 6 Bayport-Blue Point at home Friday. The county final is scheduled for Nov. 5 at Dowling Sports Complex.

The last time Shoreham reached the county finals was 2006, when the Wildcats were defeated by Islip.

In Class B, McGann-Mercy earned the No. 5 seed and will travel to play No. 4 Mattituck at 3 p.m. Saturday. The Monarchs won their last two games of the regular season, 3-1 at Mattituck and 4-0 against Smithtown Christian, to clinch a spot in the playoffs.

The Monarchs split the season series against Mattituck this year.
