Report: Riverhead Raceway sold for $4M

Raceway

Under the ownership of Jim and Barbara Cromarty for the past 31 years, Riverhead Raceway is apparently being sold to TS Haulers owner Ed Partridge.

Mr. Partridge, who owns a Whelan Modified Tour car, told Speed51.com that a $4 million sale of the track was closed today, and Riverhead Raceway will remain.

However, he said that in the future if he is able to make a track in Calverton, he may do that.

“There’s always going to be a track,” Partridge told the website.  “We won’t sell it unless we can build another one at Calverton.”

The quarter-mile track was originally built in 1949 and purchased by the Cromartys in 1985.
