Two people were arrested Saturday and charged with selling heroin in Wading River following an East End Drug Task Force investigation, Riverhead Town police said.

Curtis Prussick, 31, and Amber Schatz, 27, both of Ridge, were charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, officials said. The suspects allegedly sold drugs in the Wading River business district area, police said.

Riverhead Town Justice Court Judge Richard Ehlers set bail at $5,000 for Mr. Prussick and $1,000 for Ms. Schatz during their arraignment Sunday.

Central Islip defense attorney Martin Lorenzotti said Mr. Prussick denies the allegations and confirmed Mr. Lorenzotti has a prior felony and seven misdemeanor convictions.

He added Mr. Prussick works in construction and lives with his mother, Debra, who told the judge in court she’s able to post his bail.

Ms. Schatz works with her mother, who lives in Mastic, cleaning houses,  Mr. Lorenzotti said. He also confirmed Ms. Schatz has a prior DWI conviction.

Both suspects posted bail within an hour of their arraignments and are due back in court Sept. 30.
