Cops: Cab driver reports attempted robbery on Maple Avenue

Two men attempted to rob a Riverhead cab driver after she dropped them off on Maple Avenue Sunday night, Riverhead Town police said. 

The driver, a female cab operator for Riverhead Town Taxi, said she believes one of the men was armed with a Taser or stun gun. She told police the suspects ended up running off without taking any items.

A police K-9 unit searched the area, but could not locate the suspects. The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. just south of the railroad tracks, police said.
