Woman robbed at gunpoint outside Laundry Palace in Riverhead

A woman reported being robbed at gunpoint by two unknown men as she sat in her car outside Laundry Palace in Riverhead early Sunday morning, town police said.

The men then fled the area on foot with the 35-year-old woman’s pocketbook following the 12:45 a.m. incident, police said.

“Riverhead Police sector units along with a New York State Police K9 unit responded and checked the area,” police said in a press release. “The search of the area by the NYSP K9 unit proved to have negative results.”

The pocket book did contain some cash, according to police.

The victim said she believed the man who approached her driver’s side window had a black colored handgun. He was described in the press release only as a black male. The victim states she could not describe the second man.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call the Riverhead Detective Division at (631) 727-4500 ext. 326.
