Cops: Man on PCP led police on chase through Riverside

A Riverhead man, who was allegedly driving high, was arrested early Saturday morning after he refused to stop for police and then led officers on a foot chase through Riverside, Southampton Police said.

Officers tried to stop Carl Ligon, 33, for driving without turning on his headlights while traveling south on County Road 104 just before 1 a.m. Police said he drove away from officers “recklessly” before stopping and attemtping to flee the scene on foot.

He was soonapprehended by Southampton Town Police officers and New York State Police.

Police said Mr. Ligon was under the influence of PCP during the incident.

Mr. Ligon was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, two counts of first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving and a slew of other traffic infractions.

Mr. Ligon was taken to the Suffolk County jail in Riverside where he is being held without bail.
