Girls Basketball: Brown drops 28 in blowout victory for Riverhead

Senior guard Jalyn Brown scored 28 points to lead four players in double figures as Riverhead High School registered a 75-42 Suffolk County League III girls basketball win over North Babylon on Tuesday night.

The Lady Bulldogs (2-1, 1-1) grabbed a 6-2 lead with 5:43 remaining in the first quarter before the Blue Waves (6-1, 2-0) went on a 14-2 tear the rest of the period and never looked back. Brown, who finished seven rebounds, five assists and seven steals, keyed the spurt with three 3-point shots over a span of 2:43.

Junior guard Shanice Allen added 17 points and seven steals, junior forward Kaila-Riane Nazario contributed 11 points and eight rebounds and senior forward Melodee Riley chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Blue Waves host Newfield on Thursday at 5:45 p.m.
