A man was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash involving an SUV and a sedan on County Route 105 in Riverhead Wednesday morning, police said.

A gray Chevrolet Impala and a tan Buick Rendezvoux collided at the intersection of Route 105 and Riverside Drive near the Indian Island County Park about 7:40 a.m., authorities said.

The Buick appeared to run over a nearby traffic sign after the impact, though police at the scene couldn’t provide further details about the accident.

Riverhead firefighters and ambulance volunteers were called to the scene soon after the crash. Firefighters used absorbant material to soak up vehicle fluid spilled in the crash.

The driver of the Impala was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center with minor injuries, police said. The driver of the Buick was not hurt in the crash.

The accident is under investigation and no tickets or fines have been issued, police said.
