Cops: Riverhead man had heroin, crack cocaine

A 25-year-old Riverhead man was arrested on drug charges after police located a suspicious vehicle on Newtown Avenue early last Wednesday, Riverhead Town police said. 

Police said the passenger in the vehicle, Tomasz Zalewski, was in possession of heroin and crack cocaine, which was hidden in the waist of his clothing about 1:15 a.m., according to a report.

Mr. Zalewski was charged with two counts of misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said.
