Cops: Two horses missing in Manorville area

Suffolk County police are on the lookout for two horses that somehow escaped a Wading River Road ranch in Manorville early Thursday, according to a release.

One other horse from the same ranch was killed after being struck by a 2005 Peterbilt tractor trailer traveling eastbound on Sunrise Highway in Center Moriches, about one half mile west of Exit 59, police said.

The runaway horse was standing in the roadway about 2:50 a.m.,  the driver of the tractor trailer said in a report.

The driver remained at the scene and was uninjured, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident or the missing horses is asked to call 911 immediately. All calls will be kept confidential.
