Corinne Wiederkehr, an attackman for the University of Mary Washington women’s lacrosse team, was awarded the Capital Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week award April 20.

A 2011 Shoreham-Wading River graduate, Wiederkehr tallied eight goals and two assists in her team’s wins over Wesley and Marymount that clinched a spot in the conference tournament. She also contributed five ground balls, one draw control and caused two turnovers.

Wiederkehr, a senior, led Mary Washington in goals (45) and points (60) this season. She was third on the team in assists with 15.

Mary Washington (10-8) won its first round conference tournament game before falling in the semifinals to Salisbury, 6-4, on Saturday.

Wiederkehr finished her four-year college career with 118 goals.

Off the field, Wiederkehr was the recipient of the Glen R. Thomas Award for the highest academic achievement in her graduating American Studies class.

She plans to return to Mary Washington in 2016 to complete a master’s in elementary education.
