Update: Teenager arrested for East Main Street stabbing

Update: Riverhead Town police arrested a teenager in connection with a stabbing reported Wednesday afternoon.

Troyshawn Burgess, 16, of Riverhead was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, police said. He was also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, police said.

He was being held on $10,000 bail, police said.

Original Story: One person was found stabbed Wednesday afternoon behind an apartment complex in Riverhead, according to a police press release.

Police found the victim with “numerous stab wounds” around 4:45 p.m. near 821 E. Main St., officials said.

“The victim was transported to Peconic Bay Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries,” the release states. No other details about the investigation were available.
