Joseph Anthony Pierro

Joseph Anthony Pierro of Flanders, formerly of Manhattan, died April 9 at Southampton Hospital. He was 92.

He was born April 2, 1927, to Luigi and Francesca (Beneduce) Pierro in Ozone Park, Queens.

Mr. Pierro attended New York public schools and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

His family said he was a “Joe” of all trades and worked as a furniture finisher, in sales, in delivery and was employed by Meyers Department Store, Country Time Cycle, Carpet Man, Consumers Kitchens and Baths and Island Drug and Surgical.

On Sept. 18, 1948, he married Caterina Tripodi.

Mr. Pierro was predeceased by his sister, Connie Pierro Paladino, and his half-brother, Frank. He is survived by his wife; his children, Louis (Maureen Fabey), Joseph (Katherine), Lorraine and Robert; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitors were received April 15 at Tuthill-Mangano Funeral Home in Riverhead. A service took place April 16 at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment followed at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary R.C. Cemetery in Southampton.
