Three straight games have led to three one-goal finishes for the Shoreham-Wading River field hockey team, which has faced its share of big tests early in the season. Of those three games, the Wildcats — four-time defending Class B county champions — won two.

They defeated Rocky Point 2-1 and most recently Pierson 1-0. Their lone blemish on the season came in non-league against Ward Melville, 3-2. Ward Melville is consistently one of the top Class A teams.

Led by the fierce tandem of Debi-Michelle Jantzen and Kaitlyn Taddeo, the Wildcats travel to Riverhead at 4 p.m. today looking to improve on their 6-1 record.

The Blue Waves (2-3) will have their hands full. Riverhead pulled out a tough win in penalty strokes last week against Greenport, before falling the following day to Comsewogue, 3-0.
