Police: Man ran stop sign, charged with DWI

SH_CopsA 32-year-old Flanders man who ran a stop sign was charged with driving while intoxicated Sunday night, according to Southampton Town Police.

Edwin Espanasola was pulled over after an officer saw him running a stop sign at the intersection of Priscilla Avenue and Woodroad Trail in Flanders at about 8:20 p.m., according to police.

Mr. Espanasola had alcohol on his breath, slurred speech and other signs of intoxication, police said.

He also performed badly on field sobriety tests and had registered at .08 on a pre-screen breath test, according to police.

He was charged with driving while intoxicated, unlicensed operation and failure to stop at a stop sign.
