Driver injured when SUV overturns on icy roads in Calverton

PAUL SQUIRE PHOTO | A man was injured when he lost control of his SUV in Calverton Thursday morning.

Icy roads from Wednesday night’s nor’easter caused a rollover crash in Calverton Thursday morning, Riverhead police said.

Police said a man was driving a red Dodge SUV westbound on Wading River Manor Road west of Line Road in Calverton when he lost control of his vehicle and overturned the vehicle.

The driver of the truck suffered non life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment. There were no other passengers in the car, and no other vehicles involved.

The crash was at least the second crash caused by poor weather conditions, after three cars crashed into each other on Route 58 Wednesday afternoon, sending a woman to the hospital.
