Riverhead Blotter: Man arrested at Target on warrant

A Riverhead man was arrested on a Riverhead Town warrant Sunday night at Target on Route 58, according to a police report.

Charles Scruggs, 27, is facing a petit larceny charge stemming from his April 29 arrest at Kmart, also on Route 58, where he was accused of stealing assorted food and clothing, Riverhead Town police said.

Mr. Scruggs also faces charges of petit larceny and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in Suffolk County Police jurisdiction, according to court reports.

• Moriah Beatrice, 27, address unavailable, was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance late Monday night on West Main Street, police said.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
