Alphonse Danowski

Alphonse Danowski of Riverhead died July 17 at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 85.

He was born June 1, 1925, to Thomas and Anna Danowski in Calverton, where he was raised. He graduated from Riverhead High School and worked his entire life as a farmer in Calverton. He married Eileen McDonnell on Jan. 19, 1952.

Mr. Danowski had been a member of the Riverhead Moose Lodge and the East End Surf Club and a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Riverhead.

Predeceased by his wife in 1995 and by his son John, Mr. Danowski is survived by his children, Eileen and Kevin, both of Riverhead, Alphonse, of Florida, and Barbara Robertson of Hewlett, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family received visitors July 21 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. today, Thursday, July 22, at St. John the Evangelist. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
