Kathleen McManus Guy

Kathleen McManus Guy, known as “Kathie,” died Wednesday, March 9, at her home in Port Orange, Fla., after a three-year battle with lung cancer. She was 68.

She was born Sept. 2, 1942, in Huntington. A 1960 graduate of the Academy of the Sacred Heart of Mary in Sag Harbor, she lived in Riverhead most of her life and was actively involved in the community. With her husband, she owned and operated John F. Guy Assoc. Ltd., a Riverhead-based landscape contracting business that served the East End for more than 40 years.

After moving to Florida in 1999, she worked as a realtor at Watson Realty and as an insurance agent for Western Southern Life. According to family, she enjoyed volunteering, swimming, reading, and spending time with her friends and family, who called her “Momma Guy.” They said she was a generous and loving mom to everyone she met.

Predeceased by her husband, John, in 1989, Ms. Guy is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Guy-Reed of Palm Coast, Fla.; her son, John, of St. Augustine, Fla.; and one granddaughter.

Visiting hours took place March 14 at Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead, where a funeral service was held March 15. Interment followed at Wading River Cemetery.
