Joan Blanche DeMarinis

Joan Blanche DeMarinis of Flanders died peacefully at home Sept. 4. She was 76.

Born Oct. 23, 1934, in Brooklyn to Florence (Derry) and Robert Bartlett, she was a high school graduate. She married Pasquale J. DeMarinis and was a homemaker for most of her adult life.

She belonged to the Port 5 Naval Veterans Association Auxiliary Club in Bridgeport, Conn., and retired to Long Island 18 years ago with Pat, her husband of 54 years, and her pets.

Family members said she enjoyed arts and crafts, including QVC, and loved to draw and paint. She was everyone’s mom and a loyal friend, they said, and was loved by everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, of Flanders; her son, Robert A. DeMarinis, and his wife, Donna M., of Connecticut; her daughter, Lynda M. Dreher, and her husband, Quentin L.; her sister, Barbara Barth of Virginia; her nieces, Donna, Dawn, Toni Ann and Christie; and her nephew, John Paul.

A private cremation service will take place Sept. 23 at Calverton National Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Reginald H. Tuthill Funeral Home in Riverhead.

Memorial donations may be made to East End Hospice or the ASPCA.
